Bake Sale Success!

Friday, March 27th, 2009

At the bake sale that took place during the combined Community Budget and Site Council Meeting on March 16, a couple of fifth graders and a fourth grader (Angelou, Hannah, Ruby, Natalie and Jamel) raised $82.86 for Heifer International. Lots of people bought things and didn’t ask for change.

Heifer International in a non profit organization that uses the money you donate to buy animals for families that couldn’t have it otherwise. For example, they buy a heifer (a female cow) or bees or chickens for families who need them. We hope to buy chickens and bees. That way, the family can use the eggs and honey. What’s really cool is that when the chicken has babies, they can give the chicks to other families and the chain keeps going. Also, the bees are for the whole community, not just one family. Soon through out the village, everyone will have eggs and bees.

We say thanks to everyone who helped out!
