Succeeding With SEO in 2013

The effort by Google to eliminate spamming gets more serious with the coming of Panda and Penguin. Many sites used to create artificial links for site owners are now banned permanently. Others were penalized for sending unsolicited messages to users. But most online businesses depend on SEO to stay afloat. Are there any other ways to make your site likeable to the audience?

The old SEO techniques work by manipulating the technical side of the SERPs. This is the reason Google released Panda and Penguin. Both aim to discourage site owners from compromising quality for the sake of ranking. SEO is still an important part of the solution, but it should focus on what will offer value to the end users. It all starts with posting articles that interest your target audience, and designing your site based on what suits them well.

Link building remains integral to SEO. But links that do not have value to the end users will not help. Get links from authority sites through guest posting. You can also interact with other publishers, and comment on other blogs. Another way to do it is through tiered link building. Create multiple sites that link to one another by tier. Here, you will not have to target all your links to the main site. Rather, you will use multiple minor sites to link to a site that links to your main site.

Social networking is ever increasing in popularity. SEO may not be a success without it. Google even recommends taking advantage of the trend to promote your site. Interacting with friends and followers is a daily habit to most internet users; your site will have more exposure if you will share it with the Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn fanatics. The process is pretty simple. Have a “like” or “share” badge right beside the title or at the comments section of each article posted in your site. This will enable your visitors to notify others about your content.

Google does not intend to completely get SEO out of the picture, but to incite site owners and professionals to post content that meets the demands of the end users. This should prevent sites from giving more emphasis to quantity. There are various ways to improve rankings of a site, but it all boils down to one thing – content quality. Similarly, when content is focused on the interest of the target audience, you can expect them to want to share it with the people in their network.
